Participating as altar servers allows boys and girls the satisfaction of functioning as part of the liturgical team. It’s helpful for the youth to become part of the altar-serving ministry because it’s the most significant way to make a meaningful contribution to the liturgy. In addition to contributing their support to the liturgical celebration, altar servers develop qualities through their service.
Responsibility. Altar servers must memorize the Mass and commit to a regular schedule of service.
Punctuality. Servers are required to arrive early to each Mass in order to determine their roles, prepare items and dress in their albs.
Attentiveness. Altar servers learn the deeper meaning behind each step of the liturgy.
Poise. Servers must spring into action when mistakes are made. They know to step in when an item is misplaced and smooth out any rough edges during the Mass.
Maturity. Altar service contributes to a server’s maturity as they learn lessons and put their knowledge into practice.

Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion assist priests and deacons in administering Holy Communion. To serve as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, persons must:
Among the many signs and symbols used by the Church to celebrate its faith, music is of distinguished importance. As sacred song united to words, it forms an essential or integral part of the solemn liturgy. Yet the function of music is ministerial, it serves without dominating. Music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and to nourish and strengthen their interior commitment of faith. It should heighten the texts so that they speak more fully and more effectively. The quality of joy and enthusiasm which music adds to community worship cannot be gained in any other way. It imparts a sense of unity to the congregation and sets the appropriate tone for a particular celebration.
“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.”
Psalm 104:33

The Readers proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. They may also announce the intentions for the Prayer of the Faithful and, in the absence of a psalmist, proclaim the Psalm between the readings.
In proclaiming the word of God, readers exercise their responsibility in mediating the presence of Christ. God speaks to the assembly through them. The impact of God's message will depend significantly on their conviction, their preparation, and their delivery. Their reverence toward the Scriptures is important because the Church sees an intimate link between "the table of God's Word" and "the table of the Eucharist." From the one, the divine covenant is announced and the Church grows in wisdom; from the other, the covenant is renewed and the Church grows in holiness.

A Catholic Church usher often performs duties before, during and after mass. Because of its importance, the role of usher has had a long history in the Catholic Church. In reality, they are more than an usher, they are a ministers of hospitality. Ushers contribute to the feeling of hospitality for all who attend mass by providing a warm welcome, assisting people to find seats, and handing out bulletins after mass. In addition to this, ushers also take up and safeguard the Offertory collection and guide congregation during distribution of Communion.
For information on becoming an usher, please contact the parish office.
