March 20, 2023 - PPC Meeting Notes 3/20/2023
The Ladies Guild at St. Stephen parish has been an active vital organization for over 40 years. Our mission is to provide fellowship among the women of our parish through spiritual, social and charitable activities. Some of the services and activities provided by the Ladies Guild are Father’s Day Brunch, Mother’s Day Brunch, Scholarship Program, Funeral Lunches, Annual Raffle, and the Ladies Tea.
All women of the parish are welcome to attend the meetings and are urged to participate in the various functions sponsored by the Guild. The meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (unless that Monday falls on a Holiday, in which case the meeting will be held on Tuesday) in Hackman Hall.
Meals and More was started about 35 years ago by one of our parishioners, Anne Rogers. She wanted to provide a hot meal to anyone in the community regardless of need. Anne started Meals and More when she learned about a similar program that was established to meet the needs of young children that were hungry and not getting hot meals. Anne wanted to start a similar program in West Salem but she wanted to add the element of companionship - that is the "More" part. She realized that there were many elderly people in West Salem who may not be cooking a hot meal due to budget constraints but may also be lacking regular visitors.
Meals and More is truly a combined effort by many volunteers and the support of our parish and our priests (past and present.) We are proud of the weekly schedule of bakers and the cooks that prepare the meals. We tried to provide a well-balanced meal each week. Anyone can volunteer at Meals and More in a variety of ways: set-up, prepping some food, preparing drinks, serving and cleaning up.
Meals and More is held every Wednesday at 5:30 in Hackman Hall.
